Surprisingly, people still ask me "what are Tarot cards? The answer is simple
Tarot cards are a tool to help guide you in your everyday life, and can also, and most frequently are, used to help you make those very important decisions. Things like marriage, children, travel, work, and more. I caution you though, when it comes to health issues, do not rely on just the cards. That said, the cards will often urge you toward seeking a professional opinion from a health practitioner
Of course the next very common question is, "are Tarot cards evil? And my short answer is always "no" Why? Because, in my opinion, a Tarot card deck is nothing more than an inanimate object. They are no more evil than a knife, a hammer, and automobile, or a shoe. Each of these can be used for wrong (evil) purposes but only after being picked up by a human being. It is the "user" that may possess wrong intentions, and thus any inanimate object can be seen as "evil". Do you see what I am getting at here?
Every proper Tarot deck contains 78 individual cards consisting of both Major and Minor arcanas. I will explain those in more detail later. Each card is usually illustrated, but not with just random pictures; Each picture tells a story. Every card also has a number and those numbers also have a meaning, their own story if you will. Again, I will cover all of these aspects in more detail a little later on this page, as well as on another page (I believe this will help those of you interested in learning how to read your own Tarot cards)
Please make note here that "Oracle" decks are not Tarot cards, but can be equally as useful as a guidance tool
One of the original decks is the Rider-Waite and it was designed and illustrated by people who had a deep understanding of myth and legends, religions, colors, and numerology. I first learned to read using these cards and so moving on to other decks (and there are hundreds, if not thousands) made it easier to use some of these other decks
